Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and ruling party Awami League (AL) have blamed each other for attacking BNP chief Khaleda Zia's motorcade in Feni during her visit to Cox's Bazar.

"The ruling party's 'identified cadres' attacked our convoy in Feni as part of their pre-mediated plan," BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul made this comment on Sunday while visiting journalists, who were injured in the attack, at a hotel in the port city.

He also said the attackers' names and photographs have been published in newspapers. It's now clear that Chhatra League and Awami League cadres made the attack," he added.

Meanwhile, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said Chatra Dal and Juba Dal of BNP have carried out Sunday's attack in a planned way.

"BNP made this attack drama as they need big news due to lack of presence of the people," he said while briefing journalists at secretariat on Sunday.

UNB adds: Meanwhile, Mirza Fakhrul voiced anger over the attack on the journalists saying it is unexpected that the reporters who had no link with politics came under attack, reports UNB.

The BNP leader demanded the government arrest the attackers immediately and mete out punishment to them.

Earlier on Saturday, the convoy of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, heading towards Cox's Bazar, came under attack at Mohammad Ali Bazar near Feni district town.
